The two artists Michael Nischke and Christiane Fleissner have taken the anniversary year of the great German Romantic landscape painter Caspar David Friedrich as an opportunity to present photographs and photo collages that are closely linked to their fascination with nature.
Some of Michael Nischke's photographs on display are from his ESCAPES series. This differs from his previous works both in terms of format and content. It consists of landscape motifs taken in Iceland in 2015/2016. The visual concept for his first trip was already based on the work of Caspar David Friedrich: ‘Man, usually small in comparison to the seemingly endless expanse of Icelandic nature, searchingly observes the horizon. It is the tension between man and nature that is inherent in the compositions.’
Christiane Fleissner's series ‘The Game’ is about space in the beehive. About organisation and flexibility, order versus the joy of play. Starting from the clear, geometric basic form of the honeycomb structure, one soon discovers the smaller and larger deviations in perfection. The principles developed over many thousands of years guarantee a high level of efficiency, but as you can see in the bee colony, they are never rigid.
Everything is also reinterpreted
