KIPPMOMENT

Caroline Krause Painting

The exhibition runs until the closing event on Thursday, April 10, 2025, from 5:00 to 9:00 PM.

The chosen exhibition title represents the silent, motionless moment in which everything seems to be suspended, the transition from one state to another occurs. It is the moment when an illusion is recognized, but it also allows for dwelling within the illusion.

I am interested in the question of what constitutes our reality. My works confront viewers with their own viewing habits and perceptions. With my painting, I move beyond the traditional rectangular frame into space. Photographs of murals appear like graphics, and the traditional, painterly technique of trompe-l'œil reemerges in an unfamiliar way, while photographed grasses can be interpreted as brushstrokes. Within the exhibition context, canvas paintings, although each can stand on its own, are integrated into murals and thereby placed in a context beyond the painting itself. A painting, adhering to the classical concept of a picture, can be a window into another world; however, it can also serve to alter the perception of our surroundings.
