KIPPMOMENT
Caroline Krause – Painting
The exhibition runs until the closing event on Thursday, April 10, 2025, from 5:00 to 9:00 PM.
The chosen title of the exhibition symbolizes the quiet, motionless moment when everything seems to be suspended, a moment of transition from one state to another. It is the moment when an illusion is recognized, but also a moment where lingering within the illusion is possible. ... I am intrigued by the question of what constitutes our reality. My works confront viewers with their own visual habits and perceptions. I transcend the boundaries of the classic rectangular canvas with my painting, extending into the surrounding space. Photographs of wall paintings appear like graphics, and the traditional artistic technique of trompe-l'œil reemerges in an unfamiliar way. Similarly, photographed grasses might be perceived as brushstrokes. Within the exhibition context, canvas paintings—though each can stand alone—are integrated into wall paintings, thus placing them in a context beyond the frame. A painting can, in line with the classic concept of an image, act as a window to another world. However, it can also serve to alter our perception of the surrounding environment.
